Town of Middleton Provides Notice of Withdrawl from Valley Regional Enterprise Network
Middleton, NS - April 2, 2026 - The Town of Middleton Council has approved a motion to withdraw from the Valley Regional Enterprise Network (REN), with an effective withdrawl date of March 31, 2028.
In accordance with Section 38 of the Inter-Municipal Service Agreement dated May 5, 2023, the Town will provide 24 months' notice to the partner municipalities.
The Valley REN is a collaborative initiative that supports economic development across the Annapolis Valley through regional partnerships. The Town of Midddleton has valued its participation in the REN and recognizes the importance of regional collaboration in strengthening local economies.
"The decision was made following careful consideration of the Town's current and future economic development priorities," said Mayor Smith. "We appreciate the work of the Valley REN and the partnerships that have been built throughout this collaboration."
Over the coming months, the Town of Middleton will be exploring options to deliver economic support locally, with a focus on meeting the needs of businesses and fostering sustainable growth within the community.
"We remain committed to supporting our local business community and ensuring that Middleton continues to be a vibrant place to live, work and invest," added CAO, Ashley Crocker.
The Town will share further updates with residents and stakeholders as new approaches to economic development are developed.

The Province's Check Before You Burn program provides daily updates on burn restrictions at novascotia.ca/burnsafe or by calling 1-855-564-2876.
During wildfire risk season (15 March to 15 October), no domestic brush burning or campfires are allowed between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. During wildfire risk season, burn restrictions are updated daily at 2:00 pm (you also need to follow your area's municipal bylaws).
