NOTE DATE CHANGE! Calling all Amateur Photographers! Macdonald Museum, 21 School Street in Middleton is hosting a 'Nova Scotia Landscape' Photography Contest! There will be two age categories - up to 18 years, and 18 years and older. There will be prizes! First prize in each category will win a $100.00 Henry's Camera gift card, second prize in each category is a $50 Henry's Camera gift card and third prize in each category is a $25 Henry's Camera gift card.
There will be three judges, all well known in the Annapolis Valley area: Phil Vogler, photographer and frequent contributor to NS newspapers, Claude LeBlanc of The White Opal Photography, and Larry Powell of SaltWire Network. The judges work will be a part of the exhibit as well!
The following are the guidelines:
All photos must be of a Nova Scotia Landscape and may not contain specific portraits of persons but there can be people on the landscape. Landscape would include scenic views, coastal views, mountains, valleys, meadows, floral fields, trees, sky etc. Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscapes as well.
All photos must be mounted for hanging (not necessarily framed) and mount must be no larger than 16X24 inches. Minimum size of photo 8X10 inches, maximum size of photo 12X24 inches.
Limit of 2 entries per person, $5 fee for each entry. Your name, age, address, phone number and email must be on the back of each piece.
Submissions can be made to the Museum starting August 27th and the deadline is September 28th at 4pm. Judging will take place on October 2nd and winners will be announced on October 4th at 7pm at the public Exhibit opening. All submissions along with some works of the judges will hang in the exhibit room until October 19th.
